2020 SOLD This Avian Heart #3 (Chickadee) 35" fabric wall hanging (does not need a frame, hangs on the wall flat and needs only one nail or hook) Chickadees are a welcome visitor to the garden. They are tireless insect eaters, and when feeding a clutch of babies, they collect thousands of soft larvae. I've portrayed this one with native wild cherry, Prunus virginiana, a lovely small tree that hosts a broad spectrum of butterfly and moth caterpillars and produces tiny sour red fruits, both of which nourish birds. Chickadees like to nest in tree crevices with up to twelve eggs in a clutch. It's my favourite bird, gracing my feeder all year round. |
